12月は師走というせいか、一週間が経つのがすごく早いですね（実際の速さではなく体感の速さですね（笑））。今回は、今学期のまとめを簡単に書いていきたいと思います。I wrote a brief summary of the semester down below.
学業面
最初はとても不安でしたが、終わってみると一番何ともなかったなという感じです。
最初に、授業に構えるために教科書を全部買ったのが懐かしいです。（もう2度と教科書を全部は買いません（笑）。
クラスについて行くのに必死になるのかと思いきや、意外と点数が取れたり、最後の方では僕がクラスメイトに教えていたりしていました（笑）。
そんなこんなで、授業自体は非常に楽しく、今学期でたくさんのことが身につけられたと思います。
ただ、今学期はエッセイやプレゼンを一つもしていないので、”The 留学”というものではありませんでした。
今学期は最高で100字書いたかぐらいです…おそらく日本にいる英語を勉強している人のほうが書いてると思います（それなら記事を英語で書けよというツッコミがあれば真摯に受け止めたいと思います）。
来期は、writingを授業に入れたのでしっかりと頑張りたいです（笑）。
生活面
振り返ると、生活面は最初はとても荒れていました。着いて3週間後に歯の詰め物が取れた時はとても驚きました。
これは衝撃的な出来事として僕の中にずっと残ると思います（歯の治療に関しては、少し前に書いています）。
次は、肌荒れが途中でひどくなり、なかなかつらい時期がありました。アリゾナ特有の乾燥と熱でやられたのでしょうか、病院に行き薬をもらうと少し改善しました。
食事面では、特に好き嫌いはないので、美味しいと感じながら毎日を過ごしています。最近は、なぜかハンバーガーがとピザが食べたくてたまりません（笑）。
太る道まっしぐらですね。今学期は、1回も自炊をしていないので、来学期からは始めたいなと思います。（今学期は月から木曜日まで朝の7時30分から授業があったというのが言い訳です…）
英語
最初にルームメイトの英語を聞いたときは、本当に何を言っているかわかりませんでした。ルームメイトのJoeは人生で出会った中で最速の英語を話すと今でも思います（笑）。今では、7割ぐらいはちゃんと聞けてるかなという感じです。
僕にとって非常に幸運だったのは、教授の話はほぼ聞こえるということです。やはりcasualな場面でのリスニング力そして、スピーキング力がいるなと思いました。
この冬休みは時間があるので、洋画やドラマを見ていこうかなと思います。出来れば、シャドーイングも合わせてしていきたいです。
遊び
うーん。結局アリゾナから出てはないので、あんまり旅行したとはいえないかもしれないですね。アリゾナ州の中はそこそこいったかなという感じです。でも、アリゾナは景色がとても綺麗なので毎日過ごしているだけでも意外と楽しいです。（普通の日の夕焼けが綺麗だったりする）。次の学期は、少し勉強の手を抜いて、せっかくなのでもっと色んな所へ行ったり遊んでいきたいです（笑）。

English Version
school
When I first started school I was so nervous about what the classes would be like, but now I realize the classes aren’t as tough as I thought they would be. I bought all of the textbooks listed for my classes, which shows how prepared I was trying to be before the semester started. (I won’t buy every textbook ever again! I didn’t use four of the five textbooks, which cost me $800 in total!) Also, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up my grades, but it turned out that I got high scores and was even doing well enough to teach some stuff to my classmates afterwards. Anyway, the classes were so much fun and I really feel like I obtained some useful knowledge. I didn’t make presentations or write essays at all this semester though, so that kind of learning might not be considered “true studying abroad.” I only had to write about a maximum of 100 words each time for my homework. They didn’t assign me homework that required a lot of writing. I don’t know if that’s good for me or not haha. I will do my best to improve my writing in the future. I am hoping my writing class next semester will help me achieve that.
Life
Life at school was not good until a month or so passed. I was so surprised when my fillings came out while eating cereal. I think it will remain in my mind as one of the most shocking events in my life. Something else that happened to me while I was at school was that I developed rough skin. It made my life a little more difficult. I suspect my rough skin was a result of the dry heat in Arizona. My skin got somewhat better though after I used the medicines that my doctor prescribed me. As for food, I eat anything I want, so I am happy about that. These days, I crave pizza and hamburger. I know I’m going to get fat if I keep eating foods like this though. Next semester I will try cooking for myself since I couldn’t do that last semester due to my 7:30am classes. (Ah, it sounds so much like an excuse! Well, maybe it is. haha)
English
I didn’t understand what my roommate was saying when I first heard him speaking English. He’s the fastest English speaker I’ve ever met in my life! Fortunately, I could understand what my professors were saying, so I didn’t have much difficulty in class. Concerning my listening ability, I think I can understand about 70% of what I’m hearing now. I have come to realize that I need to be able to both speak and listen in casual English conversation. Since I will have a lot of free time during this winter break I’m going to watch as many movies and dramas as I can while doing shadowing. I’ll try my best!
Out of school
Hmm, I didn’t travel a lot this semester because I focused on studying, but I did go to some places in Arizona that were very beautiful. Even the sunsets were beautiful, that’s why it was so fun spending my time there. I don’t think I will be able to have the opportunity to travel like this again in the future, so I’ve decided that I’m going to travel a lot now instead of studying next semester. Hope I can make it to happen!
